Offering food, resources and dignity to our neighbors when they need it most
"They think what I do is so great. It isn’t—it’s simply what I’m supposed to do. Love is the premise, and there is always service. Love and service together."
— Ms. Marcella Thompson, founder of The Mustard Seed Project NC
Our Mission
We believe that if you can keep kids healthy, they learn better and can break the cycle of poverty. People often think caring for others is complicated—it isn’t. No matter who you are or what you believe, you can serve people in need.
When someone is hungry, we feed them. When they are sick or troubled, we show up. We meet people where they are—with dignity, respect, and the conviction that it is always us, never them.
Our Approach
If you don’t know how to treat someone, put the face of someone you love on them. You’ll immediately know what to do. That’s what we believe, and it’s why we do things differently. Systems aren’t set up to work for everyone. So we meet people in their workplaces—at retail stores, supermarkets, doctor’s offices, and government buildings—so they don’t have to leave their jobs to get help. Every week, we deliver fresh food—meat, vegetables, baked goods, and other essentials—to more than 300 families. All of it is donated and redistributed with care, so people can choose what they need and take it home with dignity.
Our Vision
We are working toward a community where everyone has what they need to thrive:
Decent, affordable housing
Nutritious food
Access to education
Opportunities to earn a living wage
Systems that unite us, not divide us
We believe this is possible—when we stand together.
